Driving Blindfolded

I drove in a blackout two hours to get home!
I was invited to a party in Monterey. I was told that a girl at the party liked me. I was really excited and headed for the party.

When I arrived, I noticed there was a lot of hard alcohol. I felt a little worried because I know what an alcoholic I had become.

Of course, to relieve myself of these worries I was quickly poured a stiff Jack and Coke. (Three shots of jack Daniels and a splash of Coke.) The party continued and the girl who I heard liked me was clearly not interested anymore. I was totally drunk and acting very rude and obnoxious. I was feeling really drunk and decided to drive home. Sounds kind of scary huh, well home was near Stanford in Menlo Park, scared now?

I awoke in the morning staring up at my bedroom ceiling, I had no idea how I got home and what had happened. Panic immediately set in. Where was my car? How did I get from Monterey home? Did I get in an accident and ditch the seen? Did I hit someone and drag them under my car?

I had no idea. I ran down to the garage and found my car parked weird and nothing underneath. I felt some relief, I called my friend who had the party and he told me I left a lot later then I thought. I fell into a “blackout” and had driven two hours to get home.

I drove in a blackout two hours to get home!

I could have killed someone, including myself. I could have been pulled over and thrown in jail ruining my life. A lot could have happened and didn’t. I was very lucky.

However, I was not so lucky the next time. I awoke this time looking at concrete and bars. I didn’t see the guard for two hours. I had no idea what I had done. There I was sitting in jail not knowing if I had killed someone, crashed, or what and I had two terrible hours to worry about it. All because I drank myself into a blackout.

When the officer finally approached my cell, he told me I was arrested for D.U.I. and after all I was thinking happened that night that was the good news. The D.U.I. ruined my life for two years.

PLEASE if you feel like you have a problem with drinking don’t hesitate. Get help ASAP. Don’t end up like me and like some more unfortunate people who killed people and themselves while driving drunk!
