People assume that teenagers are the worst drunk drivers. While that is certainly true, my entire family's lives have been changed, due to the unforgivable, reckless drunken driving by a senior citizen!
My unlce was pulling out of a parking space, with his 16 year old daughter behind him on the driver's side just as a seventy eight year old woman driving 60 miles an hour down a parking strip at the beach, hit several cars, and managed to hit my uncle's Avalon with enough speed to send his car flying. Both he and his daughter were rushed to the hospital--thank goodness the paramedics got there as quickly as they did.
His daugter went immediately into surgery. Her stomach and all her organs were pushed up into her chest. While she was in surgery, my uncle passed away. His daughter is still recovering today -- a year later.
At my grandmother's house that week, we did all we could to comfort her. But she was so devastated. She was wailing in pain and screaming things like, "SHE KILLED MY SON! SHE KILLED HIM!"
This experience has changed my life forever and I write this to help people learn about drunk driving and how regardless of your age, it ruins so many lives unnecessarily!

Editors Note:
In some ways it is even more tragic when a young life is cut short by a drunk driver.
