It was a lame summer so far for me as I was home back in seattle. My best friend had recently contacted me and wanted me to come down to Dallas to SMU where he attended school for a couple weeks.
He said it would be an awesome time that I would never forget. I agreed to come visit for two weeks not knowing what I would be getting myself into.
I arrived in dallas late on a friday night and was greeted at the airport by my friend. I had mentioned that I smelled like shit from flying all day and needed a shower and he insisted that there was no time for showers and that we had to get to the bar.
Off we were to the bar.
I walked through the doors to be immediatly greeted with that loving southern hospitality. He introduced me to many girls and it seemed as if every girl I met thought it was hot that I was from Seattle. They liked the fact that I spoke so proper.
Anyways the night started of with 2 jager bombs each and a couple beers. By this time it was about 12:30 am. He then in troduced me to his roommate who I got along with very well from the start. He was more of a social person than my friend and he continued to introduce me to many more people.
We began to turn it up a notch and started with shots of cuervo then another jager bomb. By this time I could tell my friends roommate was completely annihlated as was I. My friend approached us with a half hearted goodbye as he was leaving to go to some girls apartment to "get some". What a good friend cause now I'm left at some bar with his roomate I just met and we are both completely tanked with no way home and i have no clue how to get home.
My friend's roommate convinces me somehow he can drive his car and we go to leave to head out to another party at his apartment complex. I ask him if he wants me to drive and he replies with "nobody drives my car but me" so I sit back and enjoy the ride.
We take a left out of the bar and start off on our journey as I do not know how to get home and its starting to appear that he doesn't either. We take the next right and immediatly he notices that its a dead end and takes another sharp right and with that right a big screech and we are stopped and not going anywhere anytime soon. He revs the gas only to hear the wheels spinning.
We are both like fuck and get out to inspect and notice that he had high centered his car on top of the DART tracks only a block from the bar. The dart stands for Dallas area rapid transit and the shuttle trains that run on it come about every 10 minutes. He then proceeds to tell me to get behind the car and push while he gases it. I do so and nothing happens.
By this time we are both thinking DUI. And the best idea of the night was to flee the scene and call the car in stolen. So we do as his apatment is only a couple blocks away. We lock up the car and take off for the apartment.
We get to the party that I had mentioned earlier and he busts in and announces what had happened as I frantically try to get ahold of my friend to tell him to get over here. I get him to leave the girl he was with and come meet us at the party. His roommate had already called his car in stolen from the bar we left earlier so we had that covered. We walked back to the scene to investigate and when we got there just in time to see the car being towed off the tracks.
All of us still pretty inebriated and started to sprint back to the apartment and in doing so his roommate face planted right on the concrete and we all broke into laughter. We all went back and played a couple games of beer pong and I met their friends and enjoyed the rest of the night.
The next day when we awoke we talked about what had happened that night and how he was thankful he didn't get a DUI. We also talked about how the police had towed his car and if he called he could get it back cause we saw them towing it. So he called the police and they said they had no record of his car being found yet.
This is when he starts to freak out and thinks the police are fucking with him cause they know he crashed it and are going to arrest him. We decide to wait it out hoping that they just havent proccessed it yet or something. A couple days go by and no calls from the police or sign of his car. We all go downtown to the Dallas police station to see what we can come up with and still no car. The Dallas police have no clue where his car is. We get back that afternoon and its really weird to us cause we know we saw the police towing it from the tracks. My friend's roommate remembered that there was a separate police force that only deals with DART situations.
He called the DART police and sure enough they had his car in an impound about 40 miles out of Dallas. So we set off to the impound to fetch his car back. he got it back for a price or $330 dollars and the trip was looking like it was going to be back to party mode the rest of the time and we were all just happy to have this off our chests. that night we went to a party at the other side of their apartments.
We partied the night away with beer pong and quarters. I have to throw this part of the story in here for the state of Washington's sake. Me and my friend are from Washington and these two meat heads from Texas challenged us to a game of beer pong and of course we accepted.
They play the rules that if you make a shot in a cup and the team doesnt pull it away fast enough and your partner makes his in the same cup its game over. well guess what happened we sank the same cup and the room burst in chaos as we started the shit talking of the century. These boys from Washington had demolished the guys from Texas. Hell they didnt even get to shoot.
Anyways back to the main story here. We all passed out and we awoke to a suprise the next morning. My friends roommate's car was gone. Vansihed into thin air! We were like no way someone has to be playing a joke. A couple hours later his roommates phone rang and it was a police officer saying he had recovered the stolen vehicle from some apartments and we could come get it from the impound.
Needless to say he explained the situation and didnt have to pay again to get his car back. This was only about 3 days into my trip to Texas. I will always remember this as one of the craziest times of my life.

Drinking in driving is stupid. And so are the people who do it. Funny, but stupid too.
