Life at UNIBEN

University life in Nigeria is very much like what you get in any other college in the world. The usual stuff goes on: heavy drinking, sex (a bit of genuine love as well), wild parties (wild enough for us) and plain irresponsible behaviour.
This all varies considerably, however, depending what level you are –freshman, sophomore, third year or final year (for a 4–year degree).
Third year is the year you have the most fun in your life as an undergrad in the University of Benin. As a 300 level guy, you have enough courage to walk up to any girl on campus and ‘state your case’ (if it’s a JAMBite chic your chances are about a 90%), you can get into almost any party in school (this doesn’t apply to nerds). For 300 level girls, well ... it’s a foretaste of menopause would feel like.
I’ll attempt to chronicle the life of an average upwardly mobile University of Benin guy.
FRESHMAN
Lectures in very crowded lecture theatres. He doesn’t mind the crowd at all (the crowdier the better). All he cares is to be noticed by some fly chic or be picked up by an elite club (our equivalent of fraternities) as a potential member. Trying to make a reputation is all that matters to this guy.
SOPHOMORE
New member of one of the elite clubs in school. He has dropped many of the friends he had freshman year. Only the cool ones remain his friends. He has seen his first year examination results and decides how he wants to live the rest of his undergrad life, as a club boy or geek. It’s a make or break year.
THIRD YEAR
He’s a popular guy in school; parties are incomplete if he doesn’t show up. Jambite chicks are at his beck and call. He can have any dumb-witted broad in school and maybe also some smart ones, too. Life is good. You want your undergrad days to last forever.
FINAL YEAR
Getting a bit bored with the fast life, thinks of settling down with one nice girl. Made some bad choices in 2nd year, so he may have to spend one or two more semesters, trying to make up for wasted years. Still parties a bit, but much more selectively. His girl is probably screwing some 3rd year guy as well. He is still racking his brain to figure out the perfect lies to tell his parents about why he won’t graduate until next year or why he won’t graduate with honours.

Greatest Uniben student.... GREAT!!!! Shout out to y'all, especially to all CSC students and mostly to CSCSF excos and summit committee guys {2009}, U're all great. My advice to all uniben student is that groove if you want to, jack if you want to, but know that God controls all -stop running from Him. Uniben students na so we go dey dey! As far i'm concern Uniben is the best school, no doubt it. In Uniben, you get virtually everything that makes school life interesting. The book works in Uniben is terrific, the Grooving is Wow! Am stee, in d depart. of Sociology & Anthro.
I hail all the Uniben Pips here, I am presently with NNPC for my industrial training, But am graduating from greatest Petroleum Engineering next year, i nor go lie underminding the ups and down Uniben is that best. In my next world it will be Uniben again and again NA me the only SKAR-FAZE for Engine dey yan.

Frankly, Uniben is a great school to be, presently , i'm in 300level in the department of science lab tech, the stresses are a lot to talk about but it still adds to the stages of life, uniben has exposed me to a great lot of things which i know without being in this great school it won't be possible. indeed UNIBEN is UNIBEST.

It was truly some 4 wonderful years. There were several aspects that couls have been better but I'm grateful for the other perfect things. We could have done without a lot of the bloodshed lost through cultism. It was totally unecessary. Other aspects were fun save for some nasty lecturers that chose to be on the frustrate people.
SINCE 2005 I HAVE BEEN WRITE JAMB COS UNIBEN I MUST GET IT, UNIBEN IS A PLACE TO LIVE ND A PLACE TO STUDY.GREAT UNIBEST, GeoBrown

Hello Great Uniben,no week goes by without me surfing the net and keep on stumbling on this site,TRUELY Uniben you were,are and will always be the GREATEST. UNIBEST-your memory is still very fresh 12yrs after we were separated by circumstances that was inevitable(GRADUATION),I wanted to rewind time to rekindle the good old days but its against the natural phenomenon.

Uniben was an experience. I was admitted, expelled and readmitted and finally I conquered. What I will continue to remember about the School are: * Campus Jounalism; and * ALUTA. In those we had the Torch, the Kampuswatch and the Kampus mirror. I founded the Kampus mirror in 1995. The Press war that followed the formation of the Kampus mirror is something I always remember with some air of intellectual pride- because it was an intellectual warfare.

Mmmm,MEMORIES!!!! Even in my next life, i will do it again..Go to Uniben. That's the place to be. I wonder how we were always able to strike the right cord...a balance b/w fun and acada...like someone said "eat ur cake and have it". So much of everything...fun, acada, stress, babes, guys, spiritual, secular, war, peace, .....u name it. WE HAD IT ALL. If u survive Uniben...the chances are 80% that you will make it on the outside. I remember places such as Hall 1, Hall 2 for the peepers, Hall 4, Ekosodin, BDPA, Osasogie, Dentistry quaters, central cafe?, faculty etc....

Life is fun in Uniben though, but you most not be complacent and reluctant with your book work because "In Uniben it's all about making the good grades and at the same time having fun" cheers to ma brodas.
LIFE AT UNIBEN IS FUN BUT VERY STRESSFUL. THE ONLY ADVICE I HAVE FOR ALL OF YOU IS TO HAVE FUN BUT NEVER FORGET YOUR STUDIES

ok how do i put this: iam currently thinking about going to uniben for a post grad. based on what i havwe read on the threads, i think uniben is a skool for ambitious yet free spirited individuals. now thats kool by my standards. theres nothing sweeter than eating ur cake and having it atthe same time. wouldn't y'all agree? wats the scoop on post grad in uniben? do i have to be a grad from a nigerian universit before iam approved admission? i ask this cos i jus finished an online degree course at unisa ( university of southafrica). sadly i dont have the doe to go for the masters program so i opt for a nigerian university. is there anyone out here that can and is willing to fill a brother in. thanks y'all

Hey,i graduated from a University in Nigeria few years back.I know about Universities in NIgeria very much.U talk about the good side of life in UNIBEN,u forgot about the huge and sad stories and days of cultism on your campus with death tolls. 70 percent of boys on your campus belonged to one evil cult or the other so what are you saying or writing? it was rightly said that uniben is unibest.i read through all coments by various contributors,they all spoke d minds & experiences of students both past & present of this great institution.

from the way you described life in uniben, you make it sound real easy. mention the stress the lecturers dey give us...eh too much, but uniben is stil da best!!!

Frankly, I think you guys of these days are having it easy in Uniben.
A fews years back, all you need to do is to miss your mark in one out of many subjects you did for the year and you will be asked to repaet the entire level. Fail the same subject or even a different subject and you will be ship out of the department.
Just for asking; does Uniben still have September conference?
However, none can beat Uniben. Uniben is still the bum.
