This story involves several colleges, but it originates at the University of Central Florida. UCF has the best Rugby team in the Southeast United States--Go Knights! For that reason, the Southeast All Stars are selected and sent to camp at UCF in Orlando.

We had guys come in from all over the Southeast US. We had some really outrageous ones from places like Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana in for the camp. Although they were a bit different, they were lots of fun.

We spent a couple of weeks practicing together and getting to know each other before going to CU--Boulder where we were to play against the Northeast, the West, etc.

We didn’t do so well in the tournaments. The Southeast was actually one of the first teams eliminated. So, while the other teams were still playing, we had a couple of free days and we all decided to take our bus and go drinking.

Rugby is a different game with different rules. We all took the bus, with the coach’s permission and we even drove it. We went looking for fun, but we could not find the bars. We went driving around and finally came across a girl and asked her where the bar area was. She was on a bicycle and said, “I’ll take you there.” We threw her bike on top of the bus and in she came.

She was suddenly in a bus with about 25 rugby players and she seemed to be in heaven. We went to the bars and she hung out with us all night. As she drank, we realized that she was a bit different, too. She said that she wanted to go back to the CU Boulder dorms with us, and dance for us. Of course we agreed.

Upon return, everyone went to my room. At the time, that seemed like a good idea, but it turned out to be a messy one and I still cannot believe that I slept there that night!
