Unlucky First Date

I felt bad that everything was going wrong for the both of us.
I was introduced to this guy. He was nice and I liked him.

Believe it or not this was my first date ever. He asked me if I would like to go to a concert with him and I agreed. Since he was a friend of my sister-in-law, I went over to my brother's house so that the guy could pick me up. I had my sister-in-law do my makeup and stuff before he arrived. He came in for a moment to talk and opened the door for me before handing me my first bouquet of flowers.

I thought this was great. Everything was going well until just moments later. He couldn't afford a nice car and I didn't hold them against him, but his car was junk. First of all it was hot and he didn't have air conditioning. But when he rolled the windows down it messed my hair up and we couldn't hear each other talk because his car sounded like it was falling apart. It made a lot of noise.

The car was little and old and it didn't have airbags. Worst of all he was going about 80 in a car that sounded like it would fall apart at any second. I tried not to let that bother me, but it was hard because I am such a nervous person. He got a little lost, but that wasn't too bad. Finally after a little over an hour we end up arriving at the concert. We had free tickets so we had lawn seats.

I already knew about it and was fine with it. He bought me lemonade and we were having a good time talking. But, then by the time the concert began it started pouring the rain and we were getting pretty wet. He brought a large peice of plastic to put over us so we sat close enough to get it over us, but I was already wet and freezing. We barely knew each other so we didn't feel comfortable enough to cuddle or anything. But, we wanted to stay at the concert.

My arms were tired from holding the plastic over my head and I couldn't see the band. I could only hear them. Once when I moved all the water from the top of the plastic came pouring down on my head so the plastic didn't do me much good.

I didn't blame the guy at all for this because none of that was his fault. I felt bad that everything was going wrong for the both of us. I know he really liked me and wanted to impress me so I felt bad for him.

So once the concert was over we were soaked to the bone and cold. We get in his car and he tells me that he only has one windshield wiper and it was pouring so he could barely see. Then his wheels were so bald that we slid all over the place. Then once again we got back to normal and started talking about all kinds of things.

But, in the middle of our conversation we see a large tire in the middle of the road. It was too late for him to swerve around it so it hit it and he barely could control the car. It knocked the axle or something out of place and it dragged on the ground making a very loud noise as he scraped the pavement. We stopped at the store where he tried to buy me some stuff that I wanted, but I told him I would buy my own.

It scared me because he wanted to just continue home without having the car fixed. It was late so nobody could fix it anyways. So he drove slowly as this peice of his car dragged.

Finally we made it back to my brother's house. He smiled and he said at least I still had my flowers. I thought it was unfortunate that things went so badly since I didn't think badly of him. I thought we could probably make good friends. He was going to open my door for me , but I just went ahead and opened my own. I said goodbye and went inside.
