More Hackman
In your article on the Top 10 Hackman Performances, you missed Night Moves (1975) -- another brilliant performance by Hackman. Also French Connection II (1975) -- even better than his performance in the first -- the script enables us to look at the character in more depth, and Gene takes the enlarged role by the scruff of the neck Under Fire (1983) -- a beautifully restrained and nuanced piece of acting I could go on -- despite appearing in a good deal of mediocre fare, Gene Hackman has consistently been the finest American screen actor of the last 35 years or so. He's incapable of a false note. -- Anonymous letter via e-mail
