Last week, in the first of a four-part series about jazzing up your dorm room with some sweet movie posters, we looked at the top 10 vintage (pre-1980) movie posters. This week, Film Frat switches gears and takes a look at the 10 best "modern day" (1980-present) movie posters. While they may not score as many "classy" points as our Top 10 Vintage Movie Posters, these gems WILL give your room a fresh burst of personality and style (even if you're lacking in these areas yourself). So peruse our list, click on your favorite images, and kick-start the process of designing a dorm room that sets you apart from the masses.

Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me
O.K., so it doesn't have Elizabeth Hurley. And we know the original Austin Powers was better. But this one gets our vote for two reasons. First, check out the totally shagadelic Heather Graham. Secondly, it's the only Austin Powers poster to feature both Dr. Evil AND Austin himself.

Caddyshack
The tagline reads "Some people just don't belong." But though they may not have fit in on the country club golf course, Rodney Dangerfield, Chevy Chase and Bill Murray have held a special place in our twisted hearts for 20 years. Now, you can give Rodney the respect he deserves by giving this fantastic poster some wall space.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High
Fast times, indeed. Check out that smug look on a young Sean Penn's face as he kicks it on a chair nestled between two scantilly-clad babes. Guys, when you're striking out with the ladies, you can look to this one for some inspiration.

Ferris Buellar's Day Off
The image: Matthew Broderick (a.k.a. erstwhile underachiever Ferris Buellar) stretched out with his hands behind his head, maxin' and relaxin'. The oh-so-appropriate words: "Leisure Rules." And the Film Frat conclusion: The perfect movie poster for the procrastinator in us all.

Goodfellas
O.K., so you're not cool -- that's all right, no freshman male is. But at least the walls of your dorm room can exude smoothness. And this poster from the Scorsese-directed classic, featuring goodfellas Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta, is the epitome of cool.

Pulp Fiction
Yes, we know that the classic Uma Thurman come-hither version is a bit of a dorm-room cliche. But this rare poster from the groundbreaking Tarantino film gives you a menacing-looking Bruce Willis to the side, and a don't-fuck-with-us John Travolta and Samuel L. in the background. Plus, you still get Uma at her sexiest, front and center.

Romeo & Juliet
Hope & vengeance & tragedy & love. Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes help put a fresh spin on an old story in this '90s update of the classic Shakespeare play. Like the film itself, the poster is a feast for the senses that's filled with memorable images.

Say Anything
The classic '80s romance gets its due with this stellar poster. If the sight of Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack) and Diane Court (Ione Skye) sharing a moment doesn't spark nostalgia, the unforgettable image of Cusack defiantly holding his boombox above his head should do the trick.

Swingers
"Cocktails First. Questions Later." Trent (Vince Vaughn) extends his martini toward us as if it's an invitation to join the party. Mike (Jon Favreau) looks equally suave with stogey in hand. Does it get more money than this? I don't think so.

Trainspotting
This fearsome fivesome spells pure trouble on your dorm-room wall -- and that's exactly the way it should be. Whether you aspire to the laid-back grunge cool of Rent-Boy (Ewan McGregor), the idiot antics of Spud or the hot-headed hell-raising of Begbie (Robert Carlyle), this winning poster has a little something for everyone.

Bonus Pick!
|
Slacker
The title speaks volumes, even if you're completely unfamiliar with this micro-budget indie smash. The poster also scores bonus points for depicting this slacker's altered state, a visual that'll no doubt look even more trippy when you're in an altered state yourself.
Stay tuned in the weeks ahead for more top-notch poster suggestions from Film Frat.
