Films can make you feel a wide range of emotions. Take, for instance, a great party scene, featuring the requisite sex, drugs, binge drinking and more. Sometimes, that's all you need to inspire you to a hardcore night of raging. If nothing else, they're at least good for some hearty laughs. Here, then, is Film Frat's list (in alphabetical order) of the 10 best, wildest, and most memorable party scenes in cinematic history.
1. All The Right Moves
A group of high school football players throws a kegger, and chaos ensues. A few of the players find out that they were accepted to their choice colleges, Stef (Tom Cruise) tells the story of God creating the sport of football, and everyone crashes on the table Chris Farley style.
2. American Pie I & II
In the original's choice party scene, Stifler tastes beer tainted by Kevin's spunk, Jim learns of Michelle's secondary use of a flute, and Finch has a rendevous with Stifler's mom. The sequel features a partier pissing on Stifler's head (and him thinking it's champagne), Heather surprising Oz with an early arrival after months of separation, and a woman -- unlucky at strip poker -- trying to cover her assets.
3. Animal House
Toga! This classic of classics features John Belushi in a tour-de-force boozing performance at a toga party for the ages. Otis Day & The Knights are also on hand for a rendition of "Louie, Louie" that brings the house down. (Click here to read a full review of this film.)
4. Bachelor Party
Tom Hanks stars in a pic that captures the essence of one of America's favorite pastimes: the bachelor party. This one features "chicks and guns and fire trucks and hookers" as well as the usual sex, drugs, hookers, kidnapping, police and dead donkeys that go along with the a man's last night of freedom.
5. Back To School
The tremendous party in Thornton's (Rodney Dangerfield's) dorm room is one to remember, featuring Danny Elfman's band, Oingo Boingo, and a killer hot tub, complete with bubbles! -- "Now that's what I call marine biology."
6. Boogie Nights
No one parties like a group of porn stars. Mark Wahlberg, Burt Reynolds and John C. Reilly celebrate the end of a decade as only they can, and William H. Macy signals the start of the '80s with a bang. (Click here to read a full review of this film.)
7. Dazed And Confused
The senior class of '76 celebrates the end of their high school years with a raging keg party featuring the requisite hooking up, boozing, reefer smoking and fisticuffs.
8. Revenge Of The Nerds
Who says that all jocks care about is sports? In this scene they prove otherwise, as a little extracurricular partying causes them to literally burn the house down doing fireballs.
9. Romper Stomper
The first sign this party scene is a classic? The opening shot of a skinhead finishing his beer and crushing the can on his forehead. The central party action features a raging moshpit, while side attractions include Davey pounding a heavy bag and Hando (Russell Crowe) hitting skins with a female while grasping the Nazi flag. 10. Sixteen Candles
In this '80s teen classic, directed by John Hughes, party highlights include the bitchy popular girl getting her hair stuck in the door, and the Asian foreign-exchange student getting frisky with a woman on the exercise bicycle.
Bonus Pick! The Godfather Trilogy
These cinematic masterpieces feature of bevy of memorable parties in celebration of weddings, communions, New Year's Eve and more. Choice scenes: Clemenza dancing and drinking from a jug of wine, Michael kissing Fredo on the lips ("You broke my heart") and Vincent biting Joey Zaza's ear. These runner-up selections are no slouches when it comes to partying: Any Given Sunday (football players raging at a party results in one of them chainsawing the roof off of a teammates car),City Slickers (Phil's "secret" affair tracks him down at Mitch's house during his birthday party), One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest (Nicholson's leads a group of mental patients on an all-night bender), PCU (George Clinton and his P-Funk All Stars jam at a "Save the Pit" fundraiser), Risky Business (There's nothing like turning your parent's home into a whorehouse when they're away), and Swingers (a late-night gathering in Vegas waitresses' trailer).
